Timi Dakolo Nigerian singer, has taken to social media to urge Christians to celebrate this year’s Easter in the comfort of their homes due to the coronavirus pandemic ravaging countries across the globe.
This comes after some states in Nigeria relaxed the lockdown rule for Christians; to celebrate the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Reacting to this development, the Iyawo Mi crooner urged Christians to do away with the mindset; that they can only worship God inside church buildings.
Timi Dakolo stressed that it is like putting God to test should they step out of their homes to commemorate this year’s edition of the annual event in churches; despite lockdown directives aimed at curbing the spread of the deadly virus.
“Do not put the Lord your God to test, stay home on Easter Sunday. God don’t dwell in buildings but in the hidden depth of our heart. It’s a relationship not a conference,” he wrote on Instagram.
However, Bankole Wellington, entertainer and politician better known as Banky W, slammed some Nigerian governors for relaxing lockdown directives in their states due to Easter celebrations.
He wrote: “So for the state governors that have suspended isolation and social distancing for Easter… Do they have an agreement with the coronavirus that it will also go on Easter break as well? These our ‘leaders’ sha. kai.”
