American singer Carrie Underwood has announced that she will soon be releasing a gospel album.
In a Twitter video, the Jesus Take the Wheel singer revealed she is working on a gospel album titled My Savior. Described as a “companion” to her first Christmas album, My Gift, the new project will feature covers of gospel hymns that Underwood sang during her childhood.

“When I was making this music, I felt like my soul was in such a great place, I wanted to keep making music like the music off of My Gift,” Underwood explained.
The new project comes in response to fans’ requests over the years for a gospel album. My Savior will arrive “just in time for Easter,” she said.
“It’s just been such a blessing to make music like this, music that is near and dear to my heart,” Underwood added. “I hope you guys enjoy listening to it as much as I loved making it.”
Though Carrie Underwood has released faith-based hits like Jesus Take the Wheel in 2006 and Something in the Water in 2014, this will be the first time that the country superstar would release a full gospel album.
The announcement comes as Underwood’s duet with John Legend on Hallelujah sits in the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot Christian Songs chart, a feat also achieved by Something in the Water. Jesus Take the Wheel peaked at No. 4 on that chart.
