British-Nigerian actress, Carmen Ejogo, has been announced as the newest member of the cast for Netflix biopic series, “Madam CJ Walker”.
“Madam CJ Walker” – is inspired by her great-great-granddaughter’s book, “On Her Own Ground”, and is to be a four-part limited series. The series will reveal the untold, culturally important and highly relevant story of the black hair care pioneer and how she became America’s first black, self-made female millionaire.
Ejogo (Selma, True Detective) will play Addie, a hairstylist and nemesis of Sarah Breedlove (Madam C.J. Walker). She is a savvy businesswoman herself, who parlays her good looks and social standing into a profitable African-American hair-care business.
Ejogo will be starring alongside; Tiffany Haddish (Girls Trip), Blair Underwood (When They See Us), Kevin Carroll (The Leftovers), amongst others.
In 2018, Netflix had revealed the forthcoming limited series about Madam C.J. Walker, with Octavia Spencer as Executive Producer (who will also be playing the titular character – and NBA legend, Lebron James).
