Canada has offered to pay for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s security bill while they spend a “period of transition” in the country, according to the London Evening Standard.

This is coming after Harry and Meghan also announced that they would split their time between North America and the UK, in addition to stop receiving taxpayer funding.

Though the royals have said they will be working toward financial independence, their round-the-clock security was still a cause for concern.

But Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has assured the Queen that the safety of the Royal couple and their son Archie will be taken care of, a move that could cost Canadian taxpayers millions of pounds.

Harry and Meghan are entitled to 24/7 taxpayer-founded protection at home and abroad as members of the Royal Family, whether on official duties or on holiday.

Last week, it was suggested that the couple could face a huge backlash from the Canadian taxpayers if they are forced to pay for Harry and Meghan’s security.

Just recently, Queen Elizabeth II, announced her decision of allowing Prince Harry and Meghan Markle quit as senior members of the Royal Family, but she said she “would have preferred” that they remain “full time working Members of the Royal Family.”

The Queens’s statement comes days after Harry and Meghan Markle made the shocking announcement that they would “step back” as senior members of the royal family.

Despite the Queen’s statement of support, she broke protocol by referring to the couple by their first name rather than their titles, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Obviously, the monarch still sounded disappointed.
