Burna Boy, Rema Make Obama’s 2019 List of Favourite Music

Nigerian artistes, Grammy nominee Burna Boy and Mavin Records new sensation Rema have made former US President Barack Obama’s ‘Year-End-Picks’ playlist.

Among the titles highlighted by Obama is Burna Boy’s Anybody and Rema’s Iron man alongside other 33 great songs which include Playing Games by Summer Walkers, Show Me Love by Alicia Keys featuring Miguel and Mood 4 Eva by Beyonce.

Sixth on the 35-song list is Burna Boy’s Anybody and 26th is Rema’s Iron Man.

Obama took to Twitter to unveil his favourite songs of 2019, continuing his annual tradition of listing his favourite books, movies and music.

The former president’s playlist is diverse from beginning to end, spanning from various genres, such as pop, R&B, hip-hop, músic urban and country music. He wrote:

From hip-hop to country to The Boss, here are my songs of the year,” he tweeted. “If you’re looking for something to keep you company on a long drive or help you turn up a workout, I hope there’s a track or two in here that does the trick.”

There’s no denying that Burna Boy has become a globally loved superstar. His song “Collateral Damage” made the list of Jay-z’s 2019 playlist. Remaining prolific all through the year, his critically acclaimed album, “African Giant” is currently the most streamed album in Africa according to Billboard Africa and also ranks number 11 worldwide.

However, 2019 has been a breakout year for Mavin‘s golden boy Rema. Aside from winning Headies Next Rated 2019 Award, Rema is not slowing on his rise to the top of the music ladder. We can’t wait to see what these two stars have for their fans in the incoming year.
