2020 is already looking exciting for Burna Boy as Michelle Obama revealed that his song, My Money, My Baby, is one of the songs that gives her an extra boost to get through her “toughest workouts”. This is coming after Barrack Obama shared his favourite music of 2019 which included Burna Boy‘s “Anybody”. Obviously, the Obamas have the same taste in music and appreciate a wide variety of musical genres.
The former US First Lady tweeted: “It’s about that time when New Year’s resolutions get a bit harder to stick to. To offer a little inspiration, I want to share my go-to #WorkoutPlaylist with you. These songs always seem to give me that extra boost to get through my toughest workouts. What’s on your playlist?”
Burna Boy is the only indigenous Nigerian singer who appeared on number four on Michelle Obama’s list.
Also on the list is Nigerian-American rapper Tobe Nwigwe‘s “I’m Dope” featuring David Michael Wyatt. Tobe was born in Alief, Texas, a suburb of Houston, and is married to Ivory “Fat” Rogers, an African American.
Just recently, the Nigerian Afro-beats singer, bagged two nominations at the BRIT Awards 2020.
The African Giant was nominated in the International Male Solo Artiste category and is up against Bruce Springsteen, Dermot Kennedy, Tyler The Creator and Post Malone. This nomination comes after the Grammy nomination that Burna Boy received for his critically-acclaimed album, African Giant.
Burna Boy got his second nomination in the ‘Song of the Year’ category after featuring on Dave’s hit single “Location.”
The BRIT Awards 2020 will be the 40th edition of the British Phonographic Industry’s annual pop music awards. The awards ceremony will take place next month on February 18, and will be hosted by Jack Whitehall, for the third year running.
