Afro-fusion star, Burna Boy has gotten a Grammy nomination for his fifth studio album, Twice As Tall.

As the only Afro-beat artiste to be nominated, Burna Boy joins other contenders for the Best Global Music Album Grammy category.

This is Burna Boy’s second Grammy nomination for the second year in a row.

Twice As Tall is a 15-track album that was released on Friday, August 14, 2020, as a follow up to his critically acclaimed 2019 album –African Giant.

Speaking about the album, Burna Boy said “it is a journey through a bunch of emotions and energies at different points in time. It has now morphed into something bigger than me. It serves as a bridge for mankind to show that we’re all different but still very much the same.”

Recall that when Burna Boy was first nominated for the Grammy Awards, he lost to Anqelique Kidjo, whose Celia album, claimed the best world music album category.

Should Burna Boy wins the Grammy Awards, he will however become Nigeria’s first Grammy winner since percussionist, Sikiru Adepoju won with Planet Drum over a decade ago.

Meanwhile, the 63rd Grammy Awards will on Sunday, January 31, 2021, be held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

The award will recognise the best recordings, compositions, and artists of the eligibility year, running from September 1, 2019, to August 31, 2020.
