Nigerian musicians, Burna Boy and Yemi Alade, have come out to pledge their support for victims of the unrest in the North African country of Sudan. With posts on their Instagram pages, both artists sent messages of support out and confirmed willingness to support in any way possible.
“We stand with #SUDAN, at this difficult time and we pray for Peace, healing and Love. In #Nigeria also we should not forget what is happening in the North, so many lives lost over the Vanities of the world. Human life is Priority, PEACE and LOVE is the ONLY WAY,” Yemi Alade wrote.
Burna Boy, in his post also pledged to help agencies providing medical aid to the country; “I STAND WITH SUDAN! … we can’t be silent when our brothers and sisters are being oppressed. Any organisations involved in providing medical aid in Sudan pls hit me up.”
Following the removal of long-term Sudanese ruler, Omar Al-Bashir, the country has been on the brink of a violent revolution and in the past few days has seen at least 124 people being killed by regime forces and more than 700 being wounded as protests have steadily engulfed the capital city, Khartoum.
