Brymo to Drop New Album ‘Yellow’ in April

Olawale Ashimi, popularly known as Brymo is set to release a new album, Yellow on April 1.

The singer made the announcement yesterday on his Twitter page. He wrote:

Final vocals were laid for my new album “Yellow” earlier today.. album in stores on The 1st of April 2020…”

Yellow will be Brymo‘s seventh studio album after OSO (2018) and his eight project after, AAA – the debut 5-track EP from a band of the same name. The band consists of Brymo, guitarist Jad Moukarim, drummer Adey Omotade, and bassist Laughter.

Brymo’s Music Career

Brymo released his first album, Brymstone in 2007. His second studio album The Son of A Kapenta was released in 2012; it was supported by three singles; Ara, Good Morning and Go Hard. His third studio album Merchants, Dealers & Slaves which is widely regarded to be his best album was released on October 20, 2013. It received positive reviews from music critics and was preceded by two singles; Down and Eko. In October 2014, Brymo released his fourth studio album Tabula Rrasa; its lead single Fe Mi was described as a “soft traditional ballad.” On 8 December 2015, Brymo released an eight-track compilation album titled Trance; and signed an international distribution deal with Tate Music Group.

Brymo released his fifth studio album Klitoris on 9 May 2016. It comprises 11 tracks and was preceded by the lead single Happy Memories. In March 2018, the singer released his critically acclaimed sixth studio album Oso.

Six months later, he released the self-referential fictional novel Oriri’s Plight. Brymo teamed up with three members of Skata Vibration to form A.A.A, an alternative rock band whose eponymous debut EP was released in August 2019.

However, in December 2019 Brymo, declared himself Nigeria’s artiste of the decade.

He added that Ice Prince’s 2010 hit rap song Oleku, which he sang the chorus of, was the biggest Afrobeat song ever. Brymo also claimed that Ara, his 2012 hit, was Nigeria’s biggest song.
