Brain Jotter talks about ‘Gwo, gwo, gwo’ challenge, says he is yet to earn from it

Gwo, Gwo, Gwo challenge is the leading topic across various social media platforms.

It was inspired by foremost Nigerian comedian and skit maker, Brain Jotter after he shared a video of himself dancing to the song of folklore virtuoso, Mike Ejeagha. The title of the song isn’t, ‘Gwo, gwo, gwo’, it is ‘Ka Esi Le Onye Isi Oche‘, the single is off the 1983 album, ‘Akuko N’egwu’.

Since Brain Jotter reintroduced the smash hits by releasing various dance videos on social media, several of his colleagues and other notable celebrities such as Kanayo O. Kanayo have joined in the challenge.

The video has been viewed 29.1 million times with over 30,000 comments on Instagram, and 19.6 million views with over 23,000 comments on TikTok.

The 93-year-old Ejeagha and his song became a subject of interest for netizens, with goodwill pouring in. Brain Jotter offered him N2 million.

For some, it was a generous sum. While many accused Brain Jotter of copyright infringement.

However, reacting to the accusations on Tuesday in a viral video, he said, “For those thinking we ripped him off or making money from this whole thing, I understand your concerns and they are very valid.

“I appreciate the fact that you want him to get value for his hard work, which is very valid, and I want you to understand that you are doing something good

“At the end of the day, no dime was made from this song by me, nothing like that. The N2 million I gave him was from my personal hard earned money. I did that just for humanity and not for profit.”
