Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo, Senior Pastor of Commonwealth of Zion Assembly, has been in the news for the wrong reasons lately, after being accused of rape by Busola Dakolo, popular photographer and wife to musician/songwriter, Timi Dakolo.

The news got the internet buzzing last month when Busola made the allegations in an interview with YNaija TV.

However, just when it seemed like Nigerians were already moving from the topic to something more interesting, all attention was again turned to the issue earlier this week when a video showing the visit of CAN officials to the church, affirming their stand with the pastor, was released.

Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), however, in a press release, announced that the national president, Rev. Dr. Samson O. A. Ayokunle was not aware of the visit by the Abuja CAN Chairman, Rev. Jonah Samson and his North Central counterpart, Rev. Israel Akanji, on Sunday.

The statement signed on Tuesday by CAN’s National Director of Legal and Public Affairs, Evangelist Barrister Kwamkur Samuel Vondip, said investigations are ongoing; hence, the association will refuse to pass any form of judgment whatsoever.

“This message is to categorically inform the Christian leaders, the general public and all lovers of truth that CAN or the President of CAN did not approve and knows nothing about such a solidarity visit”

“Those who did so did it on their own. We stand by our earlier release on this issue that while we would never support any act of immorality from whatever quarter, we would not jump into passing judgement without thorough investigation of the matter.”

Meanwhile, Timi Dakolo, took to his Instagram page to react to the Press release; alongside a screenshot of the statement, he wrote: ‘THE TRUTH ALWAYS WIN’.
