Nollywood actress Bimbo Ademoye reveals how she prepares her characters in the movies she acts. We caught up with the film star during the premiere of her latest movie Dear Affy.
There, Ademoye revealed to us how she manages to deliver comedic gold for every script she lays her hands on. According to her, her secret is “growing up in Ebute Metta”.
“I create the characters. When they send me a script, I go through it and try to create something different,” she said. “I grew up in an area that was wild, Ebute Metta. So I infuse the people I grew up with into the characters”.
The actress who gave a notably amazing performance in Sugar Rush revealed that she applied this same technique when preparing for her role as Bola Sugar.
She said Bola Sugar is based on a former classmate of hers who was “extra and all over the place”. For her role as AJ in Looking for Baami, Ademoye said that she drew inspiration from the street urchins that lived around her.
This strategy seems to be working well because the characters Bimbo Ademoye plays are not generic stereotypes. Rather, they are quite versatile and true to self and give another dimension to the story.
Speaking on Dear Affy, Bimbo Ademoye expressed the validation she felt in a job well done on hearing the audience laugh and cheer at the movie.
Make sure to check out Dear Affy when it hit theatres nationwide this Valentine’s day!
