Betty Irabor Celebrates Daughter, Sonia on Birthday

Betty Sonia Irabor Birthday

Founder and CEO of Genevieve Magazine, Betty Irabor, celebrates her daughter, Sonia, on her 30th birthday. Sonia is the magazine’s editor.

Betty Irabor shared several pictures of Sonia dancing on Friday on Instagram with brief captions to mark her 30th birthday.

Check out the post below:

She started writing for the magazine as a 13-year-old with the column, Teen Zone. Sonia became the editor of the publication in July 2017.

Sonia served as assistant editor and UK correspondent of the magazine before her elevation to the post of editor.

In an interview with YNaija earlier in 2017, she spoke of her plan for Genevieve Magazine: “The journey is far from over and there is still a great deal of unchartered territory for us.

“We want to keep redefining the magazine and keep giving our readers – old and new – something fresh and exciting to look forward to, to be inspired by and to fall in love with.”

Saving Genevieve

Last year, Betty Irabor went public about how Sonia saved Genevieve when she was thinking of shutting it down. She wrote on Facebook:

She wrote: “So proud of this girl here @sonia_irabor! Every day as she holds it down @genevievemagazine I marvel at her strength and passion.

“I had thought that when I got tired of running Genevieve (and I really was tired) I would just write my last Morning Dew and quit.

“But then she came on board.. just at the right time. I have said to her many times, “don’t let Genevieve hold you from your own dream and purpose, don’t put your acting career and all your beautiful dreams on hold for this, I won’t forgive myself.. feel free to move on when you’re ready”.

“It’s never fair to lay your burden on your children. But she assures me she is happy doing this along with her own passion.

“I remember how many times she stopped me from throwing in the towel when Genevieve debuted and the reviews were damn surgical! Sometimes I see her frustration at work, publishing is manic! But she survives every issue .. phew!!”
