NOLLYWOOD actress, Foluke Daramola has said being raped when she was a teenager, influenced her rigidity, which she claimed affected her marriage with Babatunde Sobowale, her ex-husband.
In an interview with Punch, Daramola admitted that she had to live with the trauma of being a rape victim during her first marriage.
“The incident happened when I was 17 years. I went through my university days and first marriage living with it. My first marriage was affected by my rigidity. It was after my first marriage that I met a friend and partner who told me that I needed to talk about it,” she was quoted as saying.
Revealing why rape cases are treated with levity in Nigeria, the actress said “there are some people perpetrating this act in high places and they feel they are untouchable.”
Daramola and Sobowale ended their union ended in 2008. They both had two kids from the marriage.
