Pastor-cum-actor, Jimmy Odukoya has revealed that being a pastor does not in any way affect his acting career.
The entertainer who is the only son of popular pastor, Taiwo Odukoya and the late pastor Bimbo Odukoya spoke in an Instagram Live interview with actress and presenter, Iretiola Doyle.
Jimmy has often been criticized for not acting in Christian movies, and contrary to people’s opinion, the actor stated that people do not understand what it means to be a professional actor.
“How does being a pastor affect my acting career?” he queried. “I don’t believe it, some people have different opinion, one is if I am an actor, I should be a Christian actor and I say there is no such thing.
“There is no such thing as a Christian banker, a Christian doctor, a Christian accountant or gynecologist. An accountant is an accountant and an actor is an actor. Because I am a Christian and an actor, that means I have a particular world view.
“In what I do as a person when I am giving a role, I ask myself, ‘does this align with my world view? Can a lesson be leant from this story?’ If the answer is yes, then I am happy to do it. It does not mean that I have to be a good guy; I am happy to be the antagonist as long as people can learn from it.”

Jimmy went further to reveal how people told him he had to pick between acting and pastoring. Unwavering by people’s opinion, he followed his passion.
“If I can show you the consequence of a bad behaviour, then I am happy to do it. You’ll never see me play the role of a pastor in a movie, in fact I run away from it. At first people told me ‘you can’t be an actor and a pastor, it is impossible, you need to pick one and drop one’ and I told them ‘who said?'”
Aside from being a pastor, Jimmy Odukoya is an artiste, model, motivational speaker, and dancer. He started his acting career in 2016 after featuring in Baby shower.
He has been nominated at the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Award(AMVCA) in the “Best Supporting Actor of the Year” category.
