Nigerian singer, actor, and politician Banky W has announced that he has an album in the works for this year titled The Bank Statements.
Speaking on the album in an interview on Inkblot Meet & Greet, the father of one revealed that it would be a summary of his year so far. Banky W said, “The concept of Bank Statements is that it’s kind of a snapshot from January to December of your life… What’s important to you, what’s going out and coming in, what you’re spending your resources on.”
“Your Bank Statements reveal your priority. So the album is set up in that time frame from January to December so there’s a song for every month. You begin and end the year with God, so there are two gospel songs. One love song for Valentine, a turn-up song for March because it’s my birth month, and so on.”
Banky revealed why he came back to music after starring in a successful streak of movies; saying, “I heard someone say once that artistes never retire. They just stop when they no longer have something to say. And for me, I still have a lot to say. It’s been a few years and I’ve lived a lot of life in these few years more accelerated than normal.”
He continued, “I’ve learned things about love, relationships, God, family, and the country; and the artiste in me just started waking up and saying write about this and that. The ideas for the songs just kept coming.”
