An Ikeja based Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court has on Thursday sentenced Nollywood actor, Baba Ijesha, to 16 years in prison for defiling a minor.
The presiding judge, Oluwatoyin Taiwo, in a two-hour judgement convicted the actor of indecent treatment of a child, sexual assault and attempted sexual assault
However, the judge discharged and acquitted him of counts one and six, which included: sexual assault by penetration and attempted sexual assault by penetration.
With this development, the 16-year jail term will run concurrently; meaning that the actor will spend five years in prison.
In April 2021, the police arrested the actor for allegedly defiling a 14-year-old minor.
The actor was transferred to the gender unit of the state criminal investigation department (CID) in Panti for proper investigation following his arrest.
Furthermore, Comedienne Princess revealed that the 14-year-old girl that Baba Ijesha molested, was her adopted daughter; stating that Baba Ijesha has confessed four times to the police that he abused the girl when she was seven years old
A magistrate court had on June 16, 2021 denied the actor bail after Kayode Olabiran, counsel to the actor, pleaded with the court to release his client on bail on health grounds.
