Nigerian recording artist, Ololade Ahmed, better known as Asake, has shared recent photos on his Instagram account to flaunt his newly acquired set of tattoos.

During the mainstream emergence of Asake in 2022, he arrived with several tattoos- he had the word ‘REAL’ drawn on the back of his hand and his pseudonym across his neck. Following his departure from Olamide’s record label, Yahoo Boy No Laptop (YBNL) in the early part of 2025, Asake unveiled various tattoos disclosing a transition in his identity- the renowned singer-songwriter added more piercings, loosened his dreads (braids), and amassed tattoos on his face. Asake quickly sent tongues wagging, giving netizens something to talk about.

Pundits on the social media platform, X (otherwise known as Twitter), alleged that the 30-year-old recording artiste is depressed and going through a ‘phase’ in his personal life. Despite the various allegations and opinions shared by social media commentators, Asake, who is also known as Mr Money, preferred to remain silent and simply continue his pursuit of excellence through his craft and work of art. Amid the ongoing conversations online, Asake announced the commencement of his record label, Giran Republic, through the singles ‘Military’ and ‘Why Love’, which have been mildly received by fans across the globe.

A month ago, Asake was embroiled in a conflict with members of his family, fortunately, he was able to curb the outburst before it spiraled into a more heinous event. Masking his struggles, Asake, like other Nigerian musicians such as Wizkid, Burna Boy, and Davido, is wearing his emotions in a handful of ink. Musicians are creatives, therefore, they speak about their authenticity and personality through their tattoos.

In recent times, it is almost impossible not to see a musician who doesn’t have a tattoo. It is a representation of where they are at the moment and where they want to be. Tattoos tell a story, and Ololade Ahmed is one of those whose body is covered in those.
