International human rights lawyer and wife of Hollywood actor George Clooney, Amal Clooney has been honoured by the Royal Crown of Britain.

Days after her appearance with her husband at the Buckingham Palace to support The Prince’s Trust, Prince Charles has named an award after – The Amal Clooney Award.

The brand new award will be given to inspirational young women around the world between the ages of 11 and 30. Young women who have made a difference in their community or are the driving force behind important projects will be targeted specifically. Instances of such projects are sustainable farming projects and rebuilding properties in war-torn areas.

On receiving this honour, Amal Clooney said: “I am honoured to have been invited by Prince’s Trust International to participate in this global initiative celebrating young women who are change-makers in their communities. It is a privilege to be able to play a part in a project that will draw attention to incredible young women who are the future leaders of our world.”

The Prince’s Trust International was established in 1976 to assist disadvantaged young people across the UK. The scope of the trust has now expanded to include programs in Australia, Canada, India, Barbados, Jordan, Pakistan and Malta.

The first Amal Clooney award is planned to go out to a young woman in 2020 and will be presented by Amal.
