Organisers of the Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) have announced that a posh soiree will hold in Ghana ahead of the 2019 edition of the awards ceremony.
“The Africa Movie Academy Awards will be taking the magic to Ghana 🇬🇭 this July. Let’s celebrate the stars in grand style,” they announced via their Twitter.
Note however that the awards ceremony is set to hold in Lagos, Nigeria.
In recognition of the achievements of the Ghanaian movie industry, the show’s organisers tweeted further: “The Ghana movie industry is one that is on the move towards excellence, the Africa Movie Academy Award is one that is set to reward excellence.” This is an indication that including Ghana in this year’s celebration is a reward for excellent achievements.
Programmes ahead of the 15th awards ceremony have already begun with a workshop and gala night which held on Thursday, May 23, 2019 in Enugu, Nigeria.
The Africa Film Academy Workshop aimed at creating a paradigm shift in the African film industry was attended by over five hundred participants including Patience Ozokwor, Ofiafuluagwu Mba, Steve Eboh, the Aneke Twins, Afam Okereke alongside rising stars from the various sectors of the industry. A key focus area at the workshop was on boosting professionalism and increasing investment.
