Nas may be one of America’s top Hip-hop legends, but the gramophone trophy eluded him for 25 years.

But 2021 changed all that when the 47-year-old rapper was announced as winner of the Best Rap Album category for his 13th album King’s Disease at the just concluded 2021 Grammy awards.

The rapper who has been nominated 14 times beat out “Black Habits” by D Smoke, “A Written Testimony” by Jay Electronica, “Alfredo” by Freddie Gibbs & The Alchemist, and “The Allegory” by Royce da 5′9”.

Nas rereleased King’s Disease in August 2020 and it made it to the top 10 album in the US. This makes it the rappers fourteenth top-ten album in the country. The lead single of the album, titled Ultra Black was dedicated to Black culture in America.
