Afrobeat sensation Davido has shared his thoughts on the ongoing discussion surrounding Nigeria’s so-called ‘Big 3’ – himself, Wizkid, and Burna Boy.
In a recent interview with The Breakfast Club that went viral on Tuesday, Davido emphasized that the genre has evolved beyond the trio, and it’s time to shift the focus from rivalry to unity.

The ‘Unavailable’ crooner clarified that he doesn’t currently maintain a personal relationship with Wizkid or Burna Boy, but he believes that unity is essential for the growth and progression of Afrobeats.
“I don’t have a personal relationship with them. I did at some point in time. But I feel like the culture is just so big, and the conversation is bigger than the Big 3 right now — and that’s just the honest truth,” the twins father stated.
However, he also gave his insights about the rise of new-generation stars.
“There is Rema, Arya Starr, there are so many artiste for us to just make this thing about us. I feel like right now the three of us understand that it is bigger than us and whatever it takes for the culture to grow, whichever way we’re all for it.”
While Davido didn’t entirely dismiss the idea of a collaborative project with Wizkid and Burna Boy, he suggested that underlying issues might pose a challenge to making it happen.
“I mean it is not impossible, but I feel like people around us wouldn’t want that to happen. Some people make money off us not being cool, I guess, but with me, there have been situations where we’ve all been cool.”
