Adele released her new single “Easy on Me” on Thursday, October 14. The single is the first release from her upcoming studio album, “30”.
In the emotional ballad, she sings, “Go easy on me, baby, I was still a child”
On Saturday, she gave fans a sneak peek of the song during her Instagram Live by playing a snippet of the song.
When asked what the album would be about during the Live session, the singer said, “Divorce, babe, divorce.” Adele and her husband, Simon Konecki, finalized their divorce in March.
The “Hello” hitmaker announced she would release her highly anticipated single earlier this month. She teased the track in a black-and-white clip on social media.
The Rolling in the deep singer announced that her album would be released on Nov. 19, almost six years after her last release.
In a statement shared on social media, the singer explained that she had started on the album nearly three years ago — and was in a completely different place than she had expected to be.
“I was certainly nowhere near where I’d hoped to be when I first started it nearly 3 years ago,” she wrote. “Quite the opposite actually. I rely on routine and consistency to feel safe, I always have. And yet there I was knowingly – willingly even, throwing myself into a maze of absolute mess and inner turmoil!”
Adele wrote that she’d “learned a lot of blistering truths” about herself along the way, but is finally in a place where she feels comfortable releasing her music to the world.
