Nigerian music superstar Adekunle Gold has shared his perspective on dealing with internet trolls.

Following the release of his impressive fifth album titled ‘Tequila Ever After’, Adekunle Gold’s increased social media presence has exposed him to encounters with internet trolls.

In an interview with Beats FM, Adekunle Gold emphasized that he believes he has the right to respond to trolls and that being a celebrity doesn’t exempt him from engaging with them.

Like many other celebrities, this award-winning musician has faced unsavory comments on platforms like Twitter, often originating from anonymous accounts.

Adekunle Gold expressed his frustration with a particular aspect: “The part that annoys me the most is when people say don’t respond… If you’re stupid enough to use your @ and say something and expect me not to respond.”

The ongoing barrage of unnecessary attacks from anonymous accounts has led Adekunle Gold to yearn for the time before social media, when reaching celebrities wasn’t as easy as sending a tweet.

He lamented, “I really missed the days when we looked up to our celebrities and there was no access to them. Now you’re just one @ away from being disrespected.”

Despite this downside of social media that offers easy access to celebrities, Adekunle Gold recognized its positive aspect as well, as it enables him to connect with fans.

Ultimately, he hopes fans understand that celebrities are also human and have limits to how much unwarranted criticism they can endure.
