Yul Edochie, Nollywood actor, has taken to social media to list the prominent movie stars who helped shape his acting career.
In the list, the actor-cum-politician mentioned several Nollywood stars including Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD), Ramsey Nouah and Desmond Elliott. To the dismay of his fans, the actor, however, did not mention his veteran actor father, Pete Edochie, who is considered one of the leading figures in the industry.
“These Stars helped shape my career. RMD, Ramsey, Emeka Ike, Jim Iyke, Chidi Mokeme, Muna Obiekwe, Emeka Enyiocha, Desmond Elliot, Mike Ezuruonye, Nonso Diobi,” he wrote on Twitter.
He narrated how he would go any length, including spending his last penny; just to buy movies wherein his favourite actors featured to improve his acting skills.
“Then if I no get money to buy their films I’ll rent from video club. Not just to enjoy but to learn acting from them,” he added.
The development comes months after the 38-year-old actor recounted how his father flogged him mercilessly; for suggesting he wanted to drop out of school.
Yul Edochie, the last of his parents’ six children, made the revelation in a tweet while reacting to a viral video showing a man in Zambia beating his son for performing woefully in his exams after he spent $21,000 on tuition.
“In JS2, I told my father I didn’t want to go to school anymore, he should open an electrical shop for me. He said ok.
Yul continued: “He invited me to his room, locked the door, pulled out his belt.
“He gave me a beating that reset my brain to factory setting. Look at me today. Thank you, dad!”
