Access Bank Kicks Off the Month of November on a High Note with Art X Lagos 2019

The memories of Art X Lagos 2019 which held in the first three days of November will linger for a long time to come. The fourth edition of West Africa’s premier international fair was everything it promised to be. This year’s edition brought together exciting artistic works from 22 galleries that showcased innovative contemporary and modern art from Africa and its diaspora with the addition of Art X Modern and The Performance Pavilion.

Nigeria’s Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, declared Art X Lagos 2019 open and the tempo of the fair was set with a VIP preview and opening night cocktail on Friday, November 1, 2019.

In attendance were Art X Lagos Founder, Tokini Peterside; the Group Managing Director of Access Bank PlcHerbert Wigwe; Group Head of Corporate Communications for Access Bank, Amaechi Okobi and several other dignitaries.

A major highlight of every Art X Lagos is Art X Live!. Titled, “Making the Maverick”, the 2019 performance featured Lagos’ emerging, unconventional but highly talented artists. On the lineup were visual artists, Dafe Oboro and Joy Matashi, with live performances from WurlD, Lady Donli, and Buju with a surprise guest performance by Mr. Eazi.

At the public events on November 2 and 3, 2019, attendees were treated to a serene and visually compelling fair with arts on display, interactive projects, and engagements with exhibitors and other art enthusiasts.

The winner of this year’s Access Bank Art X Prize, Etinosa Yvonne, receives a cash grant of N1,500,000, a three-month residency at Gasworks, London, and a solo presentation at the Art X Lagos 2020, all sponsored by Access Bank.
