Aanu Jide-Ojo creates an avenue for further discussion with the short film, “Stay Here”. The film tackles the subject of body image, with a focus on the female body.
There was a time when fat-shaming was not a word and being big was considered a bonus to womanhood. Things are no longer as simple as they used to be. This is why the conversation for women to look upon themselves positively is to be had.
Each scene of the film is set according to a real life experience of each woman featured. The goal is to show how smaller acts of aggression are combated by the ways these women. It also shows how they have learnt to affirm who they are and own their space without explanation or apology.
“Stay Here” is timely in a world where the battles are unwittingly taking over the strength to forge on.
