Amazon studios just announced that a Lord of the Rings TV show is premiering in 2022.
The studio has been working on the series for some time now. There’s no confirmed title for the show yet but we have an official premiere date. The Lord of the Rings series will premiere on September 2, 2022. Amazon also confirmed that filming of the first season just wrapped up in New Zealand.
The studio also shared a first look image as they announced the show’s debut. The image shows what looks like a Middle Earth city.

The show is the first major adaptation of J.R.R Tolkien’s books since the famous Peter Jackson Lord of the Rings franchise starring Elijah Wood, Sir Ian McKellen, and later Martin Freeman in The Hobbit prequel films. The new series will take place thousands of years before the events of both The Hobbit and The Lords of the Rings. According to reports, the show mainly focuses on Middle-Earth.
