American musicians Doja Cat and Billie eilish almost collaborated on Billie Eilish’s song “Bellyache.”.
In a January 2022 cover for Rolling Stone, released on Thursday, Doja Cat recalls the 19-year-old musician asking her to contribute a verse for the 2017 hit. Doja cat told Rolling stone,
“I remember thinking it was so cute. I loved it but I just couldn’t think of anything to write.”
She revealed, “it was writers-block moment. And I remember seeing that song blow up and thinking, ‘Good for her. That’s awesome.’ I don’t think the song was for me though. It was quite difficult to write.”
The 26 year old star further addressed her work with songwriter and producer Lukasz Sebastian Gottwald, known professionally as Dr. Luke and said she no longer feels the “need” to collaborate with him. This coming years after Kesha accused Dr. Luke of drugging and raping her. However he has denied this allegation.
Doja cat stated,
“It’s whatever. I don’t think I need to work with him again. And I don’t think I need to work with him in the future. I know that. I think it was definitely nice of me to work with him.”
Dr. Luke served as co-writer for some of Doja’s biggest hits, including “Kiss Me More,” “Best Friend” and “Say So.”
