7 talking points in the Nigerian entertainment space in April

A lot of happenings rocked the Nigerian Entertainment space in April.

In this report, Eelive.ng takes a look at some of these happenings as April winds up today:

1. Davido features in official soundtrack of 2022 World Cup

Earlier this month, Nigerian music superstar, Davido, featured in an official soundtrack of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar; becoming the first Nigerian artiste to feature in an official FIFA World Cup final soundtrack.

The musician featured alongside Trinidad Cardona and AISHA. The soundtrack is titled ‘Hayya Hayya’ (Better Together).

Davido announced this through his Twitter handle

He wrote “I’m honoured to be featured on the Official @FIFAWorldCup 2022 Soundtrack.”

2. How toxic marriage led me to constant depression- Onyeka Onwenu

Also on the first of April, Nigerian singer, Onyeka Onwenu, narrated how she suffered depression as a result of toxic marriage with her former husband.

She said that she faced constant depression to the extent that her kids began to take note of her mood; stating that her decision to quit the marriage was to fight for her happiness.

3.How Wizkid missed out on 2022 Grammys

Another talking point in the Nigerian Entertainment space in April was how Wizkid, missed out on both categories he got nominations at the 2022 Grammys.

First of all, Wizkid got nomination in the ‘Best Global Music Performance’ category for ‘Essence’, his collaboration with Tems; but lost to Kidjo, the Beninese singer.

For the other category, Wizkid’s ‘Made In Lagos’; and ‘Legacy +’ by Femi and Made Kuti were up in the ‘Best Global Music Album’ category.

However, they missed out to Pakistani vocalist.

4. Nollywood actress, Nkechi Blessing’s marriage reportedly crashes

On April 6, news broke out that the marriage of Nollywood actress, Nkechi Blessing, has crashed.

Falegan confirmed the end of their marriage in an instagram live. Several reports indicate that the marriage crashed over infidelity allegations.

This is coming just weeks after Sunday said no one could take her husband from her. In the video, Falegan stated that he didn’t want to be associated with her as he said he was not her husband.

5. Funke Akindele’s kids pictures exposed by JJC Skillz’s ex-wife

Also in April, the pictures of Nigerian actress Funke Akindele’s set of twins was exposed by her husband, JJC Skillz’s alleged ex-wife.

The lady who claims to be the mother of the music star’s son, Benito Bello, shared the pictures on her Instagram page. She captioned the photo,

“If you don’t want me to expose your family then don’t expose mine. Funke and Abdul Bello.”

This came after Akindele’s recent interview with show host, Chude. In the interview, the actress spoke about the reasons why she has refused to show the faces of her children on social media.

6 Fidelis Anosike weds Nollywood actress, Rita Dominic

Nollywood stars stormed Owerri the capital city of Imo state for the traditional wedding ceremony between Nollywood actress Rita Dominic and her husband, Fidelis Anosike.

The ceremony saw several veterans and A-list actors in attendance. Chidi Mokeme, Uche Jombo, Joke Silva, Ini Edo, Lilian Bach, Hilda Dokubo,, and Shan George were among those who showed up for the latest bride in town.

7. I was disappointed Wizkid didn’t come to my wedding – Banky W

Nigerian musician Bankole Wellington better known as Banky W revealed his disappointment after Wizkid failed to show up at his wedding.

Banky W stated this during a chat with Ebuka Obi-Uchendu on the BlackBox interview series.

He said “Was I disappointed that he wasn’t at the wedding? I was but I know he tried because there was a show with a lot of the artists…I think it was One Africa. As a matter of fact Tiwa ended up…there was business class and she took economy seat so she could make it. But he called at the time that he was so sorry.”

He also said Wizkid left the label without fulfilling his part in the contract.
