Good TV shows are hard to find these days so it’s especially annoying when you watch a great show turn to shit as the seasons go by. Whether it’s because they went on too long or wrapped up too fast, here are some of the worst instances of good TV shows that got ruined towards the end.
1. Game of Thrones
This opens up sore spots for me and a legion of disappointed fans. The significant shift in direction was terrible. It was like the characters forgot who they were and fans will never forgive the showrunners for doing Dany dirty like that. If we were to go into all the things that went wrong with the last 2 seasons of Game of Thrones, we would have to make it the Big Story.
2. Supernatural
Going into this series, Eric Kripke had a vision, to tell a supernatural story while exploring the love between brothers. This he did so well that the excellence became a downfall. Supernatural was due to end at season 5 after Sam Winchester’s death but fans pressured the studio for more of that Kripke goodness. Every season after that was only worse than the one before.
3. Gossip Girl
Gossip Girl was cool when it showed the rich characters as the messed up bunch they were. But their cruel antics became less and less satirical and the show began to villainize its formerly relatable characters like Dan and Jenny. And lastly, Dan being Gossip Girl was the worst reveal ever.
4. Riverdale
After the first season, this show became absolute rubbish. Do they really expect us to believe that a bunch of muscular secondary school children are really out here having all this sex, blackmailing people, and forming Red Circle cult to hunt a serial killer? The Black Hood and all that Hiram Lodge nonsense, come on now.
5. Pretty Little Liars
The writers tried so hard to subvert expectations that they made a mess of the show. With many dramatic reveals and resurrections from the dead, Pretty Little Liars is incoherent and nothing adds up. By the third season, most of the main cast had no purpose in the show.
6. 13 Reasons Why
The only thing I have to say about this show is that there was no reason on Earth why there should have been a second season.
7. Grey’s Anatomy
When beloved characters started to die, so did the show. Many choices on the show over the past few seasons have not made sense. The show could have ended with grace, but now it’s just being dragged on.
