As we come to the end of year 2021, some many activities shaped the Nigerian entertainment industry.

In this report, Eelive.ng brings you some of the talking points that trailed the entertainment industry in 2021.

1. Baba Ijesha rape scandal

In April, news broke out that Nigeria Police arrested popular Nollywood actor, Olarenwaju James better known as Baba Ijesha for allegedly defiling a minor.

The police arrested the actor after comedienne Princess filed a defilement case against him.

According to the report,  Baba Ijesha started assaulting the young girl sexually since she was seven-year-old.

This scandal rocked the entertainment industry as Yomi Fabiyi and colleague, Iyabo Ojo exchanged banters on the social media over the incident.

The fate of Baba Ijesha is still uncertain as the case is still in court. He’s standing trial on six-count charges including sexual assault by penetration, indecent treatment of a child, sexual assault among others.

2.  Boma and Tega’s love cycle

This year’s Big Brother Naija reality tv show bred one of the most talking points in 2021.

Fans of the reality tv show hit out at Boma and Tega on social media for their romantic involvement in the house.

A week before Tega’s eviction, she had set tongues in motion with a viral video of her kissing fellow housemate, Boma while in bed, despite her marital status. She had also kissed Boma in front of the housemates and at the executive lounge,  where he spanked her.

Subsequently, other clips also showed the actress and the former male housemate under the duvet.

Also AJ, Tega’s husband, had in a statement admitted  he cheated on his wife in their matrimonial bed. He then apologised to her over the incident.

3. 2Baba vs Annie Idibia

Another controversy that rocked the entertainment industry in 2021 is the marital crisis between 2Baba and his celebrity wife, Annie Idibia.

On September 2, Annie called her husband out over his relationship with one of his baby mamas, Pero Adeniyi.

According to Annie, 2baba slept under the same roof with Pero during a visit to the United States of America.

This allegation sparked a fight between the families of the couple on social media. Charles, Tuface’s brother revealed that Tuface is dying slowly and is unhappy but trying to maintain peace that never existed from day one.

He followed this with an accusation that Annie’s mum is using ‘juju’ for her.

However, the crisis is a thing of the past after Annie Idibia took to her social media page to apologise to her husband and family over her actions.

4. Tiwa Savage Sex Tape

Another talking point in the entertainment industry in 2021 was the release of Tiwa Savage’s sex tape.

The singer had earlier in an interview with American OAP, Angie Martinez, stated that she was facing blackmail over her sex tape.

Days after she made the statement, the sex tape was eventually leaked.

Backlash and criticism from Nigerians online trailed the release as many said that the singer is a mother who should not engage in such “immoral” acts.

Others believe that the sex tape leak was a publicity stunt gone wrong.

Responding through her social media page, Tiwa Savage said she might never speak of the sex tape scandal again.

“Change that sh*t to the game and never speak on it again,” she wrote.

5.  Peter, Paul Okoye end four-year feud

The lingering feud between Peter and Paul Okoye took a major twist after they both decided to reunite.

According to the video making the rounds on social media, the two were seen in the same building with their elder brother, Jude, hugging each other.

This comes four days after the two entertainers started following each other on Instagram.

Recall that in 2017, Psquare fell apart after several years of dominating the Nigerian music industry.

6.  Davido’s N250m donation to orphanages in Nigeria

In November, David Adeleke better known as Davido, announced a N250m donation to orphanages across the country.

This development comes after friends, fans and colleagues donated a sum of N200m during the N100m challenge.

According to Davido, the money, including a personal donation of N50m, will be given to orphanages in the country.

This act by the award winning singer generated a lot of reactions on the social media as people showered praises on him.
