6 Must Watch Yemi Alade Videos

Yemi Alade or “Mama Africa” as she likes to be called has been wowing us with her voice, dance moves and of course, her artfully addictive music videos. It has been evident over the years since she released Johnny Video.

Johnny has become not just the sixth most viewed African video of all time but also the most-watched African female video on YouTube.

The choice of clothing in Yemi Alade‘s videos are frequently impressive, and the choreography? Never less than impressive.

Even if you aren’t able to sing like a nightingale you can still dance along with Yemi Alade through the magic of her music videos. Below are the top six videos.

6. Shekere

Yemi Alade enlisted Grammy winner, Angelique Kidjo to display the beauty of Africa. The Ovie Etseyatse-directed video sees the artistes highlighting various African cultures through dance and dress.

Both women drawing inspiration from different African culture in several traditional attires is delightfully regal. They beautified the beaded looks and ankara prints.

But more interesting is the band of men and women in beautiful outfits and jewellery to the tribal and choreographed dance, which celebrates the the Maasai tribe. This tribe is a Nilotic ethnic group that is found in the northern, central and southern Kenya and northern Tanzania.

5. Remind You

In this stunning video, Yemi Alade featured star Beninese actor Djimoun Hounsou.

The Ovie Etseyatse directed music video begins with Yemi Alade lying in bed with a contented smile on her face as she is transported into a telephone conversation with her love interest (Hounson) on the other line.

This is by far the singer’s most creative and entertaining video.

4. Home

Yemi Alade takes us home in this emotional video. The singer also whetted the appetite of fans when she announced the coming of a short film for the hit song. The singer captivated the world with the song’s message.

In this Clarence Peters– directed video, Yemi Alade plays a young woman longing to be reunited with the love of her life.

3. Shake

Yemi Alade teams up with Duncan Mighty for Shake, one of the many infectious tracks housed on the Woman of Steel album.

In the Paul Gambit directed video, the singer shows off her sensual side. The video begins with Alade posing on a bed donned in a sexy powder blue mesh gown, before heading into several dance sequences. As usual, Alade served a number of stunning, eye-catching looks.

2. Ferrari

Surrounded by a gang of girls, the singer captivated the world with her moves. You’ll find it hard not to sing along with her. The video sees Yemi Alade telling her love interest to prove his love by spoiling her with gifts. Although, tagged a ‘materialistic’ song, Ferrari has stunning African visuals and catchy beat to groove to.

1. Johnny

Despite making her debut on the scene close to a decade ago, it wasn’t until 2014 when she released Johnny that Alade had the biggest break of her career. This one in particular highlights the singer’s dancing talent. But given how great the song is, and how entertaining the video is; Johnny, in particular, became a monster hit.

The hilarious music video follows the lying and cheating titular character, Johnny (played by Alex Ekubo), getting exposed on a Cheaters-style show titled We Don Catch Am. Moreover, It’s still easily Yemi Alade‘s most enjoyable music video, which probably explains all the views.
