A series packed with emotions, action and life lessons, Squid Game is a must watch. Each character, as imperfect as every other person, was written to teach lessons that can be used in our day to day lives.
Squid Game tells the untold story of the poor and wealthy. It centers the story of those living at the edge of debt. With nothing left to lose, they put their lives on the line in exchange for money.
With emphasis on lessons every struggling adult can relate to, Squid Game highlights resonating questions to ponder on.
It’s Important To Save
As an Adult, it is very important to have some savings. This is to avoid situations which will force us into debt. It is important to have savings, investments and insurances in order to avoid debt incurrement. Gi-Hun had to live off his old mother due to the fact that he had no savings to bank on, after the collapse of his former job.
When his mother required medical assistance, Gi-Hun had no insurance or savings to pay the bills. He had to return to the same deadly game he ran from instead.
Building Connections Is Important
Having the right connections and building them is important as an adult. Because of the connections the characters built in the game, they were able to move forward until the very end. Gi-Hun, Sang-woo, Ali and the Old man built a strong connection and team, which helped them avoid death. Though obstacles came through, Gi-Hun’s connection with the old man played a significant role in his success.
Cherish every relationship
As an adult, no one that is in your life right now is useless. Every relationship you build for your future is important. It is important to value and cherish your loved ones. Put them in a position of value and importance, as you never know when you’ll be in need.
In Squid Game, you can see how the characters built relations with one another, how some neglected family and friends and faced the repercussions. Gi-Hun neglected his mother’s health due to the demons he faced, and his daughter as well.
Make research before making investments
Sang-Woo was the pride of his area. However, graduating from one of the top schools in Korea and being smart isn’t all you need to grow financially.
Due to bad investment decisions, Sang-Woo incurred a lot of debt. As an adult, it is important to make proper research on the type of investments you want to venture into, before proceeding.
Be kind to everyone
Gi-Hun, despite his flaws, was kind. Ali, despite the hardships he faced, was kind. Many of the characters shared one similar trait. Despite being faced with death, some retained their kindness. It was this virtue that made Gi-Hun reach the end of the game.
By standing up for the old man on multiple occasions, defending the weak and being genuine, Gi-Hun taught us a lesson we should all learn. Being kind is important.
