4 Times Nigerian Songs Caught Global Attention

Earlier in the week, Davido was the centre of attraction as he made a cameo appearance in Coming 2 America, a sequel to 1988’s Coming To America, which premiered on Netflix last Thursday.

Davido, 28, performs Assurance, his 2018 hit single, in a scene of the film as American actor Eddie Murphy reprises his iconic role as Prince Akeem in the long-awaited sequel.

Since the Coming 2 America premier, music fans, particularly Nigerians, have been all over the moon, expressing their pride in how Nigerian songs have caught global attention.

Below are however other times Nigerian songs have caught global attention:

Three years ago, Wizkid‘s Daddy Yo was used as part of the soundtrack for Hollywood actor John Boyega’s film, Pacific Rim Uprising.

Co-produced by Boyega; written and directed by Steven DeKnight in his feature film directorial debut, the 2018 film is a science fiction and action film.

Fireboy, Rema, and Burna Boy's Feature on FIFA 21

Last year, Nigerian music stars –FireboyRema, and Burna Boy were among artistes whose songs featured as a soundtrack on FIFA 21 video-game.

With Scatter, his hit single off Laughter, Tears & Goosebumps, his debut album, Fireboy made his first appearance on the football simulation game, which is available for global players.

Rema, on the other hand, with Beamer, and Santa Dave, a British rapper of Nigerian descent, with Location, a song that features Burna Boy, also secured a feature on the soundtrack.

The Official FIFA 21 game soundtrack was launched worldwide for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
