Charles Okpaleke, Nollywood film maker/ Play Network CEO is resurrecting a Nollywood cult horror classic; Nneka The Pretty Serpeant, 28 years after its release.
The award winning movie film producer is renowned for a roll out of massive remakes like Rattle Snake and Glamour Girls and Living In Bondage sequel released last year.
Following the massive success of Living in Bondage, in the same vein, clinching 8 awards at the 2020 AMVCA; Nollywood’s spell of remakes seems to be in safe, capable hands.
Tosin Igho, the award-winning Seven director will direct the latest project. While Ramsey Nouah, Chris Odeh and Chinenye Esuene will co-produce.
Okpaleke is yet to announce who will play the lead role. According to reports, Play Network have chosen to source for new faces for the lead role. Auditions had held in three states shortly before the covid-19 lockdown.
Play Network’s remake is based on the 1992 classic thriller directed Zeb Ejiro and produced by Okechukwu Ogunjiofor.
Pretty Serpent tells the story of Nneka (Ndidi Obi), a beautiful mermaid from a supernatural world whose mission on earth is to make men obey her bidding. The score of the orginal movie was loud and jarring, and the Igbo only deepened the mystique of Obi’s character. It paraded Nollywood giants like Eucharia Anunobi, Ngozi Ezeonu, Rita Nzelu, Sam Loco and Kanayo O. Kanayo.
Pretty Serpent is slated for a December 2020 theatrical release.
