Afrobeats legend, 2baba Idibia is no doubt, a household name in the Nigerian music industry as he continues to make waves with Afrobeat trends as they come.
This week has been about the artiste as he celebrates 20 years in the industry with series of line-up events.
Celebrating his milestone achievements tagged “20 Years A King”, 2baba commenced the celebration with a press conference in Lekki, Lagos recently.
In a chat with Pulse, he announced an upcoming Boy band he put together in order to provide a platform for the youngsters and produce good music.
He said: “Since I started (the boy band), it was three of us, but it’s not a group. We are individuals who came together to create music and I’m giving them a platform.”
He also disclosed that there is no album in view for the band, just “a couple of songs”.
On his achievement so far, 2baba had this to say:
“It’s 20 years since I had my first hit record. Since then, I have consistently been at the top of the Nigerian music industry and I can be considered a top 10 great – however you want to call it (laughs). Since that time I still dey till now.”
“I’m mostly filled with gratitude as regards so many things that I’ve learned and so many things that I’ve achieved. I’m just grateful, man and I’m happy,” he added.
Speaking about future plans and retirement, he said: “I’m going to keep taking it one step at a time, I’ll be doing my thing. Music is definitely still part of my movement.” When asked about the prospects of an album, he says, “Definitely, definitely, music go dey come.”
