The organsiers of the 62nd annual Grammy Awards have announced an all-star tribute to the late, Grammy-nominated Nipsey Hussle.
The tribute set for next Sunday (Jan. 26) will feature appearances from John Legend, Kirk Franklin, DJ Khaled, Meek Mill, Roddy Ricch, and YG.
“An activist, entrepreneur and rapper, Nipsey Hussle had a lasting impact on not just his community, but also the culture at large,’ Grammy Awards executive produce Ken Ehrlich said in a statement.
“There is no denying the influence he had and his legacy will be felt for generations to come. We are honored to bring together this amazing group of artists to celebrate Nipsey’s life and pay tribute to his many contributions to music. It’s sure to be a memorable performance.“
Nipsey Hussle who died in March 2019, is posthumously nominated for three Grammys this year including Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song for “Racks in the Middle” featuring Hit-Boy and Roddy Ricch and “Higher,” his collaboration with John Legend and DJ Khaled, nominated in the Best Rap/ Song Performance Category.
Hussle was shot to death outside of his Marathon Clothing store in South Los Angeles, aged 33.
His alleged killer, Eric Holder, who has been charged with murder, two counts of attempted murder and one count of possession of a firearm by a felon is currently awaiting trial.
