Afrobeat is taking over the world. The upbeat drums will leave your body itching to dance, melodious tunes crafted to make you sing along, lyrics that make you feel what it means to be African.

The sound has travelled the Atlantic ocean, is critically acclaimed globally and of high regard. It would be a shame not to have at least ten Afrobeat songs on your playlist. Afrobeat artists have created a sound adored by many, from the veteran artists like 2Baba, to the new stars like Buju.

The combination of sounds and elements to form this genre is articulated in such a way, that the listeners will crave more.

After a hiatus, YBNL superstar, Fireboy released this afropop tune titled, Peru.

9. Bounce by Ruger:-

Released as a single from his album PANDEMIC, Ruger made a melodic upbeat sound with Bounce.

8. Soundgasm by Rema:-

The title of the song, according to Rema, was derived from the two words “sound” and “org-sm”. With Bounce still topping the charts, Rema released Soundgasm produced by London.

7. Kilometre by Burna Boy:-

After his major win at the Grammy’s, the “African Giant”, released his first official single of the year, Kilometre. It is a song highlighting how far the singer has gone in his career.

6. Feeling by Ladipoe and Buju:-

Released as Ladipoe’s first official single of the year, featuring mellow vocals from Buju, the song gets you to love how you’re feeling when you listen to it.

5. LV N ATTN feat Wizkid by Lojay:-

Lojay collaborates with one of the most successful afrobeat artist in the world, Wizkid, on this track. Produced by Sarz, the song has a catchy tune and upbeat drum pattern.

4. Koroba by Tiwa Savage:-

Tiwa Savage sings about enjoying life and all the good things it has to offer, in this track titled Koroba. Released as a single off her critically acclaimed album, Celia, the afrobeat track also has a sultry, but mid-tempo vibe.

2. Outside by Buju:-

In this mid-tempo afrofusion track, Buju motivates his listeners with the lyrics

Buju

1. Essence by Wizkid and Tems:-

Released on the 30th of October 2020 as the 11th track off his album, Made in Lagos, Essence is a sensual duet. It features singer and songwriter, Tems, who also wrote the song with Wizkid. It was produced by P2J and Legendary Beatz.
